What to Expect (2 of 6)
Congratulations again on your subscription to The Oxford Communiqué. I hope you’ve taken some time to check out the website and read the Investor Reports that come with your subscription.
Today, I’d like to tell you about myself and the investment philosophy that informs my recommendations in the Communiqué.
I started out in the business as a registered representative in the securities industry in 1985. Before long, I was writing my firm’s research reports and client communications and managing discretionary accounts. After 16 years in the money management business, I left to become the Chief Investment Strategist of The Oxford Club, where I have been for more than 20 years.
During my time on Wall Street, I learned some incredibly valuable lessons about investing. These lessons have become the backbone – or pillars – of my investing philosophy.
You can learn more about my story and investing philosophy in the Welcome Issue.
Think of it as the complete Oxford Communiqué beginner’s guide. It’s a must-read for new subscribers. So if you haven’t read the Welcome Issue yet, click here to do so now.
While yesterday was about getting you logged in and acclimated to your membership, today is about looking toward the future.
Here’s what to expect from your Oxford Communiqué subscription going forward.
- A brand-new issue of The Oxford Communiqué every month. Toward the middle of the month, you’ll receive an email letting you know that the most recent issue of The Oxford Communiqué is online.
- Weekly Portfolio Update emails. You’ll also receive weekly Oxford Communiqué Portfolio Updates on Tuesdays to keep you up to speed on any developments in the portfolios. These updates will most often feature one stock, highlighting any news or a recent earnings release, as well as reiterating our investment thesis.
- Safety Switch Alerts. Anytime a stock closes below its stop (or its investment thesis changes), we will send out a Safety Switch Alert the next morning, letting you know to exit the stock. Rest assured we are tracking the movements of all the stocks in the portfolios.
- A complete library of Investor Reports. Not only do you have online access to the Investor Reports that came with your subscription, but you can check out ALL of the reports available in the Communiqué library. The focuses of these reports are wide-ranging, from opportunities in biotech and information security to ways to earn cash outside of the stock market.
All email correspondence will come from “The OxfordCommuniqué,” and the sender will be oxford@oxfordclub.com (be sure to add this address to your email address book to ensure the emails reach you).
If at any point you have questions about how to access any of your Oxford Communiqué materials, please call

Resources for Getting the Most Out of Your Subscription
Whether you’re an investing novice or veteran, I’ve put together many resources to help you get started with your subscription.
If you consider yourself a novice – or would just like a refresher on some key investing terms and ideas, like how to open a brokerage account and execute a trade – click here to access our Investing 101 page.
(And if you are new to investing, know that you don’t need a lot of money to get started – or to make investments. We have a list of online and full-service brokers for you to check out – and many offer low account minimums. Two that we recommend are E-Trade and Fidelity.)
I’ve also pulled together some Essential Reading in relation to The Oxford Communiqué. In the “Essential Reading” section of the website, you can find out how to tax-manage your investments to save your shirt at tax time. You can also read in more detail about the five portfolios that make up the Communiqué‘s investment system.
Now that you know what to expect, I’ll outline important information on things to consider before you start investing in my recommendations next.
Good investing,
Alex
