Let Me Introduce Myself (2 of 7)

Hello, I’m The Oxford Club’s Emerging Trends Strategist, Matthew Carr.

Congratulations again on your subscription to Oxford Resource Explorer. I hope you’ve taken some time to read the Investor Reports that come with your subscription.

Today, I’d like to tell you about myself and the investment philosophy that informs my recommendations in Oxford Resource Explorer.

I began my career in the industry as a writer for the energy trade publications Natural Gas WeekGas Market Reconnaissance and Oil Daily. I also dug into exports and international trade finance for Business Credit magazine.

My passion has always been energy and resources. What I learned in those early years made me the investor I am today. I learned to ignore the financial press and listen to the data. Understanding the nature of – and taking advantage of – the sector’s boom-and-bust cycles has led me (and my readers) to record-smashing profits.

In addition to helming Oxford Resource Explorer, I run two of the most successful trading services at The Oxford Club: Prime System Trader and The VIPER Alert.

I’d also like to introduce you to David Fessler, The Oxford Club’s Energy and Infrastructure Strategist.

A prolific writer, Dave is a Contributing Editor to Oxford Resource Explorer and the Editor of Advanced Energy Strategist.

A degreed electrical engineer and a true energy innovator, Dave has installed his own microgrid to power his 68-acre farm in Pennsylvania and can be seen riding around in an all-electric vehicle. His in-depth research and expert presentations on renewable energy have incited strong praise from fellow industry leaders.

You’ll receive recommendations from him every few months in the monthly issue.

Get the Most Out of Your Subscription

Whether you’re an investing novice or veteran, I’ve put together many resources to help you get started with your subscription.

I’d like to introduce you to a set of principles that form the foundation of everything we do at the Club and that have been a key to our success for more than two decades. It’s called The Oxford Club’s Pillars of Wealth. It’s based on four ideas that guide every investment decision we make:

  1. The Oxford Wealth Pyramid. Use our proven system to build the ultimate mix of long- and short-term strategies to increase your returns and dramatically lower your risk.
  2. Trailing Stops. Find out how to let your winners ride and how to cut your losers short. Knowing exactly when to sell – having a superb “exit” strategy – is your best defense against losses.
  3. Position Sizing. We’ll show you the risk level of every recommendation we make, as well as how much of your portfolio you should allocate to it.
  4. Cut Investment Expenses. Avoid paying Wall Street’s outlandish fees and learn how to best tax-manage your investments.

If you follow our recommendations and pay attention to these Pillars, you will achieve success in the markets. For a more in-depth look at the Four Pillars of Wealth, click here.

If you are new to investing, don’t worry… You don’t need a lot of money to get started. We have a list of online and full-service brokers for you to check out – many of which offer low account minimums.

We’ve also recorded a how-to video here that shows you exactly how to place a trade.

Your success is very important to me, and it goes hand in hand with the Club’s promise to help you grow and preserve your wealth. I welcome all of your questions, comments and feedback, so please feel free to contact me at any time. You can email me at mailbag@oxfordclub.com. (Please note that I cannot give any personalized investment advice.)

Now that you’ve gotten to know me, I want to get to know you. In my next letter, “I’d Like to Hear From You Today,” you have the opportunity to tell me exactly what you want out of your subscription.

Again, thank you for subscribing.

Good investing,

Matthew
