One of Julia’s Oldest Friends Has Something Very Interesting Going On
From the Baltimore Clubhouse – Today I’d like to introduce you to a new friend of mine and a longtime friend of Oxford Club CEO and Executive Publisher Julia Guth.
I first met options trader extraordinaire Bryan Bottarelli last summer in Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Bryan had been talking to Julia about starting a new trading service centered on options and other short-term opportunities.
He had also recently moved to Massachusetts, and I was up there on vacation, so Julia encouraged us to get lunch. Since that day I’ve been in touch with Bryan as he’s built a new e-letter and trading service.
His new firm, Monument Traders Alliance, is not part of The Oxford Club, but Julia gave Bryan some great advice and support to get it up and running. Monument Traders Alliance will soon be added as a Pillar One Advisor, and Karim Rahemtulla (although he’ll still be with The Oxford Club serving Wealthy Retirement and Automatic Trading Millionaire) will be assisting Bryan in his new venture.
His Trade of the Day newsletter (which you can get for free here) launched this spring. And his online trade recommendation portal, The War Room, will launch in May. It’s truly exciting to watch this new franchise come to fruition.
Here’s an interview I conducted this week with Bryan. I think it will give you a much better feel for where he comes from and what he’s aiming for.
So, Bryan, I understand you earned your trading chops at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). Tell me about that.
I did. It’s funny; I didn’t fully realize it at the time, but I was lucky enough to enter the options trading game straight out of college in the most direct way possible: in the Apple Computer trading pit on the intense floor of the CBOE.
Believe me when I tell you that trading options is a cutthroat game. Standing for eight hours in a sweat-soaked trading pit competing against the world’s best floor traders makes you grow up in a hurry. It was hard work, and the stress was tremendous.
Fortunately, two of the best options traders in the business took me under their wings and taught me their most heavily guarded secrets to success, methods that have made millions in the pits of Chicago and New York.
Standing in the pits each day with these two legends made me untouchable. On average they made 800 transactions a day. With repetition comes mastery, and soon I began to see the same patterns and identify the same formations as my mentors. As I spent more time on the trading floor, things began to click and the game began to make more sense.
As their CBOE clerk, I knew how they made every penny. By standing next to them and placing their trades, I was secretly learning the blueprint for the greatest wealth-building tools imaginable. I was the one person who fully understood their incredible trading secrets. It’s like playing on an NFL team with Vince Lombardi as the coach and Joe Montana as the quarterback. You couldn’t help but get the best education possible.
It sounds intense! And then you started and ran your own trading firm?
Well, yes and no. You see, I’ve mostly kept these secrets to myself – often using them to trade in my personal account. At the same time, I wanted to do for a few others what my Chicago mentors did for me. So I also led an elite group of followers in my own trading newsletter called Bottarelli Research. For 12 years I shared my best trades with this group – and we never had a single losing year trading together.
Wow. So I have to ask, what’s the best trade you’ve made?
There are hundreds. But the one that sticks out the most was a company called Taser International, which is now called Axon Enterprise (Nasdaq: AAXN). Right after 9/11, I recommended it for $4 per share. In the months that followed, it moved up past $63. That was an exhilarating ride.
Do you have an overarching trading theory or strategy?
Yes, I have plenty. After spending the last 20 years of my life fine-tuning and perfecting the methodologies I learned at the CBOE, I now spend my time focusing on four unique trading tactics that I’ve found to be consistently profitable in all kinds of markets. These methods are worth tens of thousands – even millions – of dollars when applied correctly. They’re the only metrics that I zero in on every single trading day. In my view, everything else is simply too inconsistent.
In order to see the power of these techniques, I need to show you – in real time – how they work, from both a theoretical perspective and a graphical perspective. That’s why I’ve decided to lift the curtain and share these most powerful wealth-building secrets with a small, qualified group of like-minded traders.
We’re talking about May 8, right?
Yes, on May 8, I’ll be hosting a live trading event called Bryan Bottarelli’s 7-Figure Trader Summit. But, Matt, I need to stress this to you. This summit is being made available to only a small, elite group of qualified members. I’ve spent my life perfecting these techniques, and I can’t reveal them to the entire world.
I can’t wait to watch it. Now, I also wanted to ask you about Julia – you two go way back, right?
That’s right. I’ve known Julia for nearly 20 years now, and I’ve always had a deep respect for how she runs The Oxford Club. She always puts the interests of her Members first. I honestly can’t say that about too many other financial publishers. That’s what we at Monument Traders Alliance are aiming for too.
In that vein, I understand yours will be a very different kind of trading service, a kind of community of traders, right?
That’s exactly right. The idea comes from my early days on the CBOE, where I was fortunate enough to be mentored by two of the best traders alive. I wouldn’t be who I am today without their willingness to share with me – this young kid right out of college – how they generated such incredible wealth. For that I’ll be forever grateful.
But since then the CBOE has changed dramatically, with the disappearance of the trading pits. And the emergence of electronic trading has eliminated much of the community and camaraderie that I loved. So trading has become much more isolated and individualistic. I’m looking to walk that back a bit and recreate the CBOE atmosphere with Monument Traders Alliance.
I like that idea a lot. So what’s your ultimate goal for this new service?
It’s pretty straightforward. In my War Room trading portal I’ll bring together a collection of great traders, speculators and chart technicians – all of whom will collaborate, communicate and bounce ideas off each other – with a common goal of daily wealth creation. Nothing like this has ever been offered to the financial world, and I believe it represents the next major advancement in trading from your home, office or handheld smartphone.
Impressive. I can’t wait to see it live. On a personal note, I hear you’re a big fan of Montana, and you and your family spend a lot of time at your house there.
You saved the best question for last! You see, trading is a very mental game. You can never turn your mind off. It’s a never-ending exercise of tracking moves, charting stocks and looking for the best profitable opportunity. So occasionally I need to turn off and recharge. For some people that means going to the beach. For others it’s golf. For me, it’s the mountains of Big Sky, Montana. Whether it’s a mountain hike in the summer or a snowy getaway in the winter – the mountains are where I can truly decompress and recharge my speculative engine. Montana is my happy place. I’m grateful for the ability to live a life where I can trade for a living and then break away to enjoy the nature that I love.
Thanks for telling me and the Club about yourself and your new service, Bryan. I’m really excited for Monument Traders Alliance and for you and your team. We at the Club wish you all the best!
Thanks, Matt.
