** We’re Out of BanColombia
Last week we hit our sell stop on BanColombia (NYSE: CIB), taking a 3% loss.
However, all our remaining positions are profitable. And our average gain is over 20%, even though our average holding period is 93 days.
Australia’s Rinker Group (NYSE: RIN) has been strong out of the gate, moving close to a new 52-week high. The heavy building materials company will get a short-term boost from the Katrina clean-up. So keep buying.
And Norway’s Statoil (NYSE: STO) is also moving the right way. We have a 39% gain here. It’s encouraging to see that the stock is holding up well, even though crude oil has backed off its recent peak above $70 a barrel.
Brazilian mining giant Companhia Valde do Rio Doce (NYSE: RIO) is hitting a new high this morning. We have a 43% short-term gain here. Move your sell stop up to $38 to protect your profits here.
Our shares of South Korean steelmaker POSCO (NYSE: PKX) have also gotten a nice pop lately. It, too, is about to hit a new 52-week high. Move your sell stop up to $49 here.
Investors worldwide will be watching Greenspan closely tomorrow. The Fed’s commentary will be much more important than its decision to raise rates or hold steady for now.
I’ll keep you posted.
